Personal goals for my Nursing Career
Nursing has always been my career choice and I would not want it any other way. Not only will I become financially independent, there is a vast array of directions in the profession that I can pursue. I hear of many people who want to pursue their Master's Degree and work to become a Nurse Practitioner, or Nurse Anesthetist, but I want to explore every aspect of bedside nursing. I want to build a foundation and find a specialty that I really enjoy. Given time, I will learn as much as I can, and hopefully contribute to that specialty that drives future nursing care. However, I do have plans to pursue a higher degree, whether it is to become a CRNP or CRNA.
I have also found that i really love to teach. Whether I have trained new nursing assistants, or helped other classmates, I enjoy the satisfaction of increasing an individual's understanding. Potentially, I would like to explore nursing academia, or work as a clinical faculty, to help students and the novice nurse to gain confidence and increase their clinical performance.

My Worldwide Goals for the Nursing Profession
Whenever I reflect on my education, I realize that I am a minority; I am a male in a female dominated profession. I strive to eliminate all stereotypes that men face while entering the nursing profession. According to the US Census Bureau, men comprised eleven percent of the RN workforce. Nursing is not an easy profession, but it guarantees a lifetime of financial independence and job security.
As I sit here composing this portfolio, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has ravaged the whole world and has state governors ordering the public to stay home to limit the spread, but I realize that there are individuals who can not stay at home. Nurses are among the first people to come into contact with deadly contagions and risk their own health for the sake of their patient. I pray that the world recognizes the perseverance that all nurses showed during this pandemic, and realizes the type of person who does the job, and does it with passion.
